Hi all, looking for advice from anyone who’s been through EP cancellation recently (post-Nov 2025 rule changes).

My fixed-term contract with a multinational is ending in mid-May 2026. The company’s immigration agent (a Big 4 firm) is telling me I must provide a flight ticket departing Malaysia on or before my last employment date.

This seems unrealistic — I’d still be working up to that date and would need time after to vacate my apartment, close bank accounts, settle utilities, etc.

They also said Special Pass is only for exceptional circumstances and not guaranteed.

Important note: I am not permanently leaving Malaysia. I am actively securing new employment here and plan to return once my new EP is processed. I just need time after my contract ends to settle my affairs before temporarily departing.

My questions:

1.    Has anyone actually been required to leave on or before their last working day? Or did your company arrange a departure date a few weeks after?

2.    Under the current Pass Shortening rules, is there any provision for a reasonable departure period after employment ends?

3.    Is the 30-day Exit Clearance window relevant here, or is that strictly a company-side admin obligation?

4.    Anyone dealt with a Big 4 immigration agent being overly conservative on timelines?

Appreciate any insights. Trying to figure out what’s standard practice vs. my agent just playing it safe.
