Try for cost of living.
Please introduce yourself to the forum. And don't forget to use words like 'please' & 'thank you' when posting as this will assist in getting replies.

Yes, I can't help agreeing that receiving "commands" is very off-putting.  However, overlooking the not so successful initial posting, I would say that there is very little difference in the COL in Ipoh compared to the the Klang Valley (i.e. around KL). This is because so many food items (over 200) are price controlled, which means they are sold at no more than a price set by the government. The only difference will probably be in the cost of street food and taxis might actually use their meters and therefore charge the going rate.  Ipoh used to be the capital city and so it has never been a rural and cheap option.  In fact, there is a great amount of wealth concentrated around Ipoh which keeps the prices reasonably high. There is also quite a bit of hi-tech industry which have skilled foreign workers and executives.  So once again this keeps the prices current.  Unfortunately, a lot of people find living in Ipoh dull and quiet and I even know some who actually live in the KL area and commute to Ipoh to work on Monday and return Thursday or Friday to KL.

Taxi in Ipoh using meters? Never noticed one.
Ipoh isn't a place I'd go to live, didn't like the place much - the 'culture' isn't my cup of tea.
