Advice re marriage
@Cherryann01 A simple question was asked, why try to turn it into a sideshow!

That was not my intention. The simple fact is that if you have not met your good lady in person then getting the visa for her to come and marry you in the UK is a non starter, Because you have neither confirmed or denied meeting her in person, the advise you were looking for may not even be relevant and other members would have been able to inform you about how to go about getting married in the Philippines.
Nobody wants you to waste time and money trying to achieve something that cannot be done if you have not met your good lady in person.
I look at it this way - When buying the wedding dress the bride to be would want to try it on, see how it looks and feels, get the reaction of her husband to be, friends, family and see if it fits the contours of her body.
So why would anybody arrange to marry somebody they have never even met in person. A few trips to see her and get to know her before would be the best thing to do.

A pertinent point Cherryann. The answer to which only the OP can give.
Only an observation but given the OP's non response to a "simple question" asked as he puts it, I would hazard a guess that he has never personally met the bride to be let alone visiting the Philippines and tasting the culture and flavours.
Do yourself a favour Mike, come here, meet in person your lady and then decide, could be cheaper in the long run based on experience only and we don't need to go there.
Come over and get your hands dirty.
Cheers, Steve.
One can only hope he's taking to heart all the great info in this thread and on this site but you can lead a horse to water...
When I was in my mid 20's a Filipino friend went home to the Philippines from Canada and I (along with some other friends) found out he came home with quite a few pen pal letters from some Filipinas. He never gave them to us, not sure why. Turns out it may have been a blessing in disguise because I'm quite sure I would have been played quite badly at that age, depending on the type of gal I would have met of course.
I think Mike3371 should be a governor. Or at least some type of prominent politician. Like many politicians, he doesn't directly answer the question everyone wants to know. He skirts around it quietly.
And like politicians, I think we have our answer already.
To the OP (if you're still here) you should view the latest attached video from Gio in the Philippines: A Cautionary Tale.
I didn't get half way through that video, no need, sad story repeated many times. Well done to the astute Filipina that scammed him. More fool him.聽 A simple lesson for all to learn here as most have, I'll give you an example, Ben my better half and I have been together over 12 years, I feed and employ him P3K per week to run the books/buying/translating/Shopping/cleaning/cooking the workers lunch most days and the list goes on, he is a great multi tasker. (we share the cooking and house work in our private life).
Some months ago he purchased a new bike and after his savings, selling his Mio (that I paid for) he borrowed 40K,,, yes borrowed and pays me back P 1K per week, he was down to P6K (well done Ben) and his iPhone died, another 26K to the bill, he knows that I might be the banker and we are partners but reality and responsibility he has learnt or I would be buying him a Maserati every second week, not going to happen.
As another member mentioned, hope the OP is taking heed and I would simply say not putting the wrong head in front of the thinking head.
OMO.
Cheers, Steve.

Neither did I Steve. Gio鈥檚 videos can be somewhat long winded. However I do feel that your comment聽 鈥榃ell done to the astute Filipina that scammed him鈥 is inappropriate and frankly out of line on this Forum.
Nobody in this world deserves to have their lifes savings taken from them. This is one of the more egregious scams ongoing in the Philippines and I posted the above link for the OP whose naivety is probably, due to his silence, on a par to the subject of the video. Naivety, foolishness call it what you will but we don鈥檛 know the victims circumstances. He could have had a nightmare of a divorce with half his assets taken (quite rightly) by his ex stateside. He is at a low point, wants to build a new life and falls in love with a Filipina he met online on Wild Cherry Blossoms.
He is now in a Cebu City hospital for all we know suffering a nervous breakdown. The story has gone national and it looks like Raffy Tulfo, the senator come journalist, who exposes Filipina scams on foreigners, might get involved. He has a track record of successfully exposing these people.
Your 鈥榓stute鈥 Filipina may end up bringing shame on her family and by extension many other genuine Filipina鈥檚 who play by the rules.
Mike turned into a guest poster, guess we have heard the last from him.

Well spotted Mugteck

As for my comment on the astute Filipina (she saw him coming) perhaps out of line but simply honesty and my comment does have a place on an expat forum especially for the naive and gullible, isn't that why we are here? To share info and education, may haps a new member may read lots of these contributions and the red flags waved by those that have been there etc.
While I do feel for the man that was dupped all I can say was it was perhaps self inflicted? All these dating sites put warnings and disclaimers on their sites as a "be careful and don't be scammed".
I'm sure the astute Filipina has harnessed wealth for the family that will evaporate, no money, sorry.
OMO.
Cheers, Steve.
I strongly suggest you consider first, where you wanna settle down. My wife (Filipina) and me (German) married here in the Philippines 6 years ago.
We don鈥檛 have any intention to live in Germany. Why should we?
Easy to understand! I鈥檓 already fine with this country (Philippines) and why my wife and our kids should never suffer in a dark and grey culture like Germany.
No thanks.
We stay here for good. Better in the Philippines. Love Philippines 鉁嬸煆尖湅馃徏鉁嬸煆拣煒庰煒庰焽叼焽焽叼焽
I鈥榤 happily married and we live in the Philippines. Why should I bring my wife and kids to Germany. No way.
So the meaning is. You should know when you getvmarried to a Filippina. Where you want to end up!!
USA, UK or somewhere else beside the Philippines?
I was able to embrace the Philippines. My wife she can still see her parents and Family. Why should I take her out of her comfort zone and bring her to Europe!
I better stay here and she is absolutely fine. I don鈥檛 miss Germany at all.
