Wayne 07:   I would love to go back as an expat...wait.  My situation is different, I suppose.   Since I was born in the Philippines, lived there 17 years, speak the language like a native, thoroughly familiar with the customs, culture, etc......would that make me an expat in the Philippines?   I was already a U.S. citizen when I was born in the  Philippines.   I had to leave before I turned 18 else risk losing my U.S. citizenship (according to my parents)...so I was sent to California to live with my relatives.   I have been back to the Philippines..when I was stationed in Manila as soldier with the U.S. Army.   Funny...it didn't feel like I was from somewhere else...felt right at home in Manila.  Have been back there many times thereafter during my military and civilian assignments with the U.S. Armed Forces..in Japan and Thailand.  Again, felt like I never left...not much has changed since the last visit...except for new things that weren't there before.
  This time, I would like to go back permanently...and retire there and get actively involved in projects that would help others.  I think I'm better prepared this time and have a good perspective of what I'd like to do when I get there.

Wow. Manila.is great place to stay   a lot of activities   places to visit and friendly people.
