Not sure from where you are flying, but there used to be direct flights from Vancouver and San Francisco to Manila.聽 Flying to Shanghai means you took the cheaper, longer, more dangerous route.聽 Good luck.

Have you asked your airline this question?聽 If not, it might be a good place to start.

If it麓s only a stopover and flying with the same airline/plane, you don麓t normally worry about claiming your luggage. Changing flights or any airline - then you have to worry about claiming your luggage and then checking them in to the new flight.

As soon as the staff arrive at the boarding for your connecting flight, take your ticket with the baggage check/s on it and ask them to check if your bags have been transferred to the next flight.
I nearly always do this and the staff have always checked. (Singapore Air, Malaysia, BA, Cathay Pacific).
I went thru there in May will never take a flight where I change planes in China, went thru more BS there, went to get boarding pass for next flight they took my luggage to a room open and went thru it had fingerprints taken a photo , wait in long line, you get your luggage than take it to ticket counter and check it in for next flight

Totally agree.... I had almost the same exact experience. Will not do the China Route again that鈥檚 for sure
Regarding my earlier post, I have no doubt that my faith in that technique may not stretch so far as China (Hong Kong excepted) !
