Vaccines required in the Philippines
When living or moving abroad, and in particular in the Philippines, vaccination against certain diseases is often required to enter the country or to avoid risks.
We would like to ask you a few questions to help future expats there.
What is your relationship to vaccines in general?
Did you get vaccinated before moving to the Philippines?
Were these vaccinations compulsory or recommended?
Did you refuse to get any vaccine that was recommended for the Philippines? If so, why?
If you are an expatriate in the Philippines, are you encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine? Do you have access to the vaccine and do you plan to get it?
Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?
Many thanks,
Diksha,

When I came here in 2018 the US State Dept. advised but did not require me to get vacinated against Hep A and B, which i did through the VA.
Philippines does require (as far as I know) to have the covid vacine and they DO require this for domestic air travel.
Upon arrival in country (if you have the proper paperwork) you will be required to submit to a 7 day quarentine and a swab test

The airlines and not the government are discussing creating a vaccine "passport" to verify that you were vacinated and starting this sometime in March...Not definitive yet though

you said it is required at this time which is bulls#it
so if you knew the rest of story why you not say it in your original post and you have to get challenged before you say it?

Given the choice, I would follow your advice. However, I have not been able to travel for my work in the last 12 months. I will probably need to be vaccinated to be able to travel on occasion and help stop my previously thriving small business going to the wall.聽
Time will tell on the effectiveness of the vaccines and any negative affects. In the time taken for the Vaccine to be available in the Philippines, there might be some statistically valid data to support use of the vaccines. I can't wait until 2023 though so I guess that I'll be one of the guinea pigs when the opportunity arises.
Covid swab test was required for her to fly out of the Philippines (P4-5k).

I just returned from Manila and PAL did not require anything except temperature and signing a form.聽 No PCR test nor proof of a vaccine.
95% of people here wear masks and face shields when required,,,,,,,,, main roads and malls,,,,,, one block back they are indestructible, nada. The local constabulary need to up their game and issue fines.one ore two blocks back where the people live.
Off topic perhaps but one simply needs to look at the countries and their successful聽 control prior to vaccines, some people listen and abide, others consider themselves indestructible and then some,,,,,,,, oops too late.
Regardless of vaccine roll outs and availability?
The coming of vaccines has led many people into false security, if I get C-19 I will get a vaccine,,,,,,, It don't work like that fool.
This morning my better half advised that we have 25 (from memory) new cases yesterday in our Barangay,,,,,,,,, prior to today the reported cases here were 1 or 2 in 6 months, interlopers all, zero generated in our community,聽 always one or two in the next or distant areas,,,,,,,,,........... Our holiday back to Europe is off the radar, returning to Australia is possible with Quarantine but coming back to our home in the Philippines is a blatant NO. I am somewhat lucky as I returned 12 months ago and have a couple of years up my sleeve with tourist visa extensions, after that?
OMO....... yet again, a vaccine is simply that, a preventative and not a cure after the fact/damage is done. In the interim all people need to pull their head in and focus so we can all go back to a normal life and holidays and do away with masks etc. Time will telling this country.
Cheers, Steve.
mugtech wrote:Who knows how long masks will be required and movement will be restricted.聽 You should know in 4-6 years.聽 You want to live in the Philippines, you need to learn how to wait.
Yes funeral directors are requiring masks & shields on all the deceased and BI clearance of the recently departed.
They don't want hell to be infected with Covid or criminals.

Awesome! Lucky guy.
I do believe you will still need to quarantine, even with vaccine certif, but you may be able to do a home quarantine. Just not sure with new restrictions.
Zorch wrote:I understand that every country is dealing with the Covid situation in their own way. I also know this will be an ongoing situation that will evolve over time. Nevertheless it should still be voluntary and not forced. After enough people had flown through the windshield of a car crash it got to be the sensible practice of wearing a seat belt when driving. Likewise people will wear masks as needed in time.
Definitly NOT volontary when close to other people or where other people go, because common masks are for protecting OTHER people from idiots, who move around spreading virus without using mask when they are spreading!!!聽 That's a reason why the virus spread....
Philippines is a Free聽 country but all citizens and residents must abide to the laws and rules of this country.聽 Wearing mask is an important measure to prevent the spread of the virus, it has nothing to do with freedom.聽 Im surprised following rule will be an issue for a military veteran.... do you see wearing an uniform a form of oppression and slavery , or it is part of the militraty rule?

You will be required to get the vaccine each year.
The jab will reduce the human population.
The health passport will include a carbon quota.
You had terrorism now you have pandemic.
Biden is not here to stay.
Zorch wrote:My real point was not to bring shame to wearing or not wearing masks, but rather to emphasize that it needs to be voluntary.
...
People should wear masks voluntarily as needed using common sense.
But many people don't use common sence聽 聽
聽 聽 Duterte got angry at so many don't follow the restrictions specialy in Manila.聽
Masks are mainly to protect OTHER people than the user, so definitly NOT volontary.
Zorch wrote:. My hope and expectation is that as more people get vaccinated the less emphasis will be on mask mandates. .
Don't count on that.聽 Vaccines聽 are not fully protection even without mutations.
If mass testing and vaccinations were free and ready available, it would be easier for everyone to decide.
My wife was talking to friends in Las Vegas yesterday. The demographics of Clark county Nevada (Metro Las Vegas),聽 17 and under (15%)聽 65 and older (16%).
Quite a contrast to Metro Manila
With free testing, free vaccinations all available and stimulus money, things are almost back to normal for seniors in Las Vegas.
After WW II, Korean War and Vietnam War southeast Asia at various times was devastated.
Now in 2021 Japan, Korea and Vietnam have come completely back. What has happened to the Philippines?
So as the rest of the worlds daily life and economies recover, the Philippines will watch them recover, just like in the past, the Philippines will be left in the dust.
