ECQ is back

Curfew now 6 pm to 5 am.

My daughter-in-law who works at the mall (department store) says the mall will be closed starting Monday.

My stepson also was told not to report back to work聽 (mall restaurant) for two weeks.

Cebu City mayor has also re-instated special passes for travelers coming in from other provinces. PCR test within 72 hours required. There will be inspection at all air and sea ports, and transit terminals. I'm still trying to figure out what the vehicle checkpoints like from north or south of the city will be.

It is a matter of people only doing essential behaviors during daylight hours, easier to observe and control.

Viruses do not know the time of day. People do.

It's easier to evade the police, who are enforcing stay-at-home orders, at night when聽 it's dark. So, it's a time for some people to try to go out in the street or go to their friends' house to mingle.

I can't blame聽 some of them for wanting to do that, especially those living in low cost housing or slums in urban areas.聽 Staying at home is hard for people who live in small cramped houses with nothing much to keep them preoccupied. So they go out when they have the chance.

It's easy for us to comply with the stay-at-home orders and curfews because we have things to keep us "busy," like Netflix, internet, books, etc. plus a well-stocked pantry and fridge. But it's a huge sacrifice for some.
