Expat blog gatherings in Cebu
What about meeting the other Cebu 大咖福利影院 members in real life? Organizing an 大咖福利影院 meet up would be an excellent way to know them!
An 大咖福利影院 meet up can be a diner gathering, having coffee, a bring and share in a nice place, a cultural or sports activity, etc. There are plenty of possibilities: just imagine a pleasant way to meet new people and old friends from 大咖福利影院.
Feel free to organize 大咖福利影院 get-togethers in Cebu: you would meet the other members in a friendly atmosphere and have a good time together!
Of course, we could offer some help to organize your meet up and to inform the community.
So, who聮s in? Do not hesitate to start a new thread to suggest an 大咖福利影院 gathering in Cebu.
Best,
Julien

I'm going to Cebu for Holidays on 19 of July and I'll be stay there 5 days. If you want to catch up for a coffe let me know. Always is good to talk with people that can tell you their experiences. Best regards.
Alfonso
This is perfect. I just came from Vietnam and China and I have met interesting people through expatblog there. We would go to bars together, sign up for cooking lessons and I have built a network of friends. I would like to experience having the same meet ups over dinner and coffee here with some other expats here in Cebu.
I'll be here til the end of July.
How about this weekend? June 30 perhaps? Let me know if other people would love to do the same.
Rica
as I said if someone wants to catch up for a coffe or something let me know. I'll be there on 20 of July. I hope it is not raining. XD
Cheers
I聮m so glad to find out that we have so much in common, we love to experience new cultures and meet new people from different countries. Cebu is one of the perfect places since it is the melting pot of various cultures. Count me in guys. I聮m so looking forward to meeting all of you.
Let聮s keep in touch so we can plan simple or great events. It聮s highly interesting to meet and know each other.
Hear from you guys real soon!
Regards,
Stella
Do not hesitate to propose a date, an hour and a place. I am sure other members might be interested.

PS: The date should be given 2 or 3 weeks in advance so as to have a maximum of participants.
Thank you,

I'm permanent in Cebu and have been trying to do this for a while.聽 Not many young expats.聽 Most are college students for a few years and gone after.聽 Most foreign students don't know of any and it's dwarfed by other groups here.
I think it would be a great idea.聽 I also posted try to get one up.
I understand what you mean... I will work on getting something set up for end of Jan... beginning of feb...
What kind of work are you doing in Cebu?

Paused work to switch careers and go back to school.聽 I'm studying here in Cebu.聽 Tried a few different things and got bored with them all.

I'll start a meetup group Nov 29th and see how it evolves.聽 Costs like $100 for the year.
I'm back in Canada now on holidays (Christmas and New Years) but back in January... If you get some people together and it works out, let me know!
What do you study there? I work online but just a couple hours/day and getting bored in my spare time... Was thinking about taking some classes to keep me busy but never got around to it...
Let me know...
J
I already set up a Meetup Group last week...
Anyone interested here's the link...
Thanks!

Which clubs do you go to in Cebu?聽 Who else does concerts other than Waterfront?
I will go back though in January and probably stay a few months or longer..
Where are some good places there?
J
I'm forming more of a expat/foreigners meetup where you can network and share stories.聽 Drink and just chill.聽 Once a month maybe or so.聽 I know the places and some people here since I live here permanent.聽 There is no meetup club or group since we all get along.聽 There isn't a group to just meetup and meet/great and network.聽 We don't have that in Cebu.聽 The Indians in your group are looking for girls with one attribute of interest.聽 below.聽 Either paid or voluntary.
Just FYI.
Also they're been visited by more gays (Bayots or Transvestite Drag Queens) and bisexuals.聽 Depending if your comfort level is ok with that.
You're out of luck here.
There are some nice upperclass European style pubs and bars here.聽 Good food and have satellite sports on huge 50" Samsungs.
I go to those. Not the clubs.
Yeah, that's why I'm looking for other places to go... Not interested in going back to Mango Square...
I lived in Makati last year and hung out with a bunch of expats and there were lots of monthly meetups (done through dinnernations)
There were also a few meetups through expat-blog in Manila I went to that were kind of shi**y... People were there to either sell you real estate or get you on some Herbalife health product scheme... I agree that a monthly meet for expats to network and share stories would be great..
I just got tired of Makati because any nice beaches were too far away... That's why I decided this time I would check out Cebu as Bohol (and I'm sure other nice beaches) is close by...
Would be great to hit some nicer European style pubs/sports pubs when I get there...
Chat soon!

There are more foreigners in Manila.聽 A lot more but in Cebu you'll find usually the retirees interested in their families settling down or the drunks roaming Cebu looking for pudai or Butoh.聽 If you want to meet foreigners it's best you stay in Winland Towers to socialize.
I lived in Thailand for 3 years and seen the same type of westerners there as I've seen in the Phils...
So, Winland Towers is a decent place to stay? I'm thinking about just getting a hotel next to Ayala for a week and check out monthly rentals when i get there...
Thanks,
J

Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions etc.
Then they meet unorganized in the usual watering holes depending on their social status.
One good chance where everyone mixes is the weekly "hash" from the
Hash house Harriers Cebu. 9Every sat staring 2 PM, time varies, check first.
Their home is the "SANDTRAP Sports bar" in Banilad, where also a lot pf professional (Read, still work!) Expats unwind.
Maybe I see you there one day on a Hash.
Cheers

rstnpce wrote:I don't go do the club thing here that often.聽 Music isn't that good, there are alot of fraternity gangs roaming them (Not ours these are bad boy dangerous mafias) and most of the girls that pursue you are prostitutes.聽 1/2 have an STD.聽 They always demand money.
