Any Udon Thani folks on here?

BOONDOCK-SAINT

I extended my stay here, I rather like it. Most of the expats here seem to clique in tight groups, tough to get to know anyone. There's some strong representation from a few countries in particular.

If you live in UT and have any favorite places or pubs to pass along, say hello.

How you finding life there? Not been but seems like somewhere that would be interesting to visit from what I have seen online!

Will be moving here next year, well, not in Udon Thani itself, but semi rural.

I prefer to keep away from city life, and just take it easy.

My wife is from there though.

Many lovely places to visit.

Yeah know what you mean, me and my wife both grew up in the countryside. Much prefer rural life over city life!

Any places you recommend to see in Isaan?

The lotus lake is supposed to be amazing, although it is seasonal, we missed it the last time we were there.

Nong Khai is very nice, markets and sightseeing, also has the friendly bridge, if you purchase a visa you can visit Laos which is the other end of the bridge.

Loei is nice too, there is a Buddha which is high up a hillside, you have to climb an awful lot of steps, but it's worth it.

Apart from that, there is lots to see, many many temples and local markets.
