First Visit to Bangkok

Hi, would like to know what are the most See attractions in Bangkok during my first visit. Planning December 2026.聽 Hotels I am looking at Mandarin, Ritz, Park Hyatt. Can you advice on Pros and/or cons of their locations. Open to suggestions.聽

Is it true that taxis and restaurants don鈥檛 take credit cards? We tend to use credit cards to pay for Ubers and food at least in Korea it was very easy.聽 If cash is the case how much is a good amount to bring to exchange in Thailand. We normally don鈥檛 use ATMs abroad due to traveling to countries that use cc.聽

Is more than a week too much for Bangkok? Looking into 10 days. Any short drive tourist areas that we should see?

Thank you in advance for all your input! 馃槉

Visa & Master Card can be use many place.

Setup tourist e-wallets like TAGTHAi without needing a local bank.

"TAGTHAi Easy Pay: Tourists can download the TAGTHAi app, verify their identity with a passport, and top up a digital wallet"

Alipay:

"Scanning PromptPay: International users can use the global Alipay app to scan standard Thai PromptPay QR codes "

And some real money and you good to go.

No ide about taxis, Dont see the point in using them.

Thailand have crab cab " Grab Thailand, featuring options like JustGrab, GrabCar, and GrabTaxi"

From my own experience with Taxi, many times old dirty car, seat often broken, no air con.

And not the best driver to trust in.

Grab Cab have all ways be newer cars, super clean, all ways Ari con, Super nice driver.

And like that i know the price before using them.

For me, Bangkok is a no no !!!

The pollution is so bad i get sick every time we go there after 20-30 minutes.

Wife take a bit longer to get sick from it. Normal on our way back home to Bang Saen.

And like i shared before, When 4 of my family was here last year, They all got sick in Bangkok.

Kindly.

Hi Kaid,

I would second Never Done's suggestion, I guess somewhat dependent on how long you will stay.

My first business trip (1991) I stashed my suits with the hotel in Bangkok, took my jeans and backpack and went to Chiang Mai.聽 (Sounds like it has grown exponentially.)聽 I intended to go for a trek, but a combination of a really severe cold, (and memories of my first Sunday arrival tour of the Herpetological Museum in Bangkok with the huge variety of extremely poisonous snakes) made me decide to just explore the city for a few days.聽 Ten years later, for my honeymoon, My wife and I spent a few days in Bangkok, a few in Chiang Mai, and a week in Phuket.聽 Totally different environments!!!聽 But it gave us a sense of the range of variety in Thailand.

Enjoy your trip!!
