If you can get the freedom to married paper from France, Then you can Married again.
As this paper it need to get married here in Thailand.

Dont know about France, But in Denmark we can call that Office and ask if we register as Single or Married, And find out that way before paying the applied fee.

In Denmark the paper we need to fell out, Is call "Information sheet for registration of marriage in Thailand"

Danish Embassy have a steep by steep guide what we need to do to get married in Thailand, So maybe the France Embassy have the same ?

Not sure why you think, Thing change when get married ?

No change for me, No change for any of the Foreigner i know that have married.
Well one thing change for me, I was able to get 1 year Married-Extension, Very nice as i am under 50 years.

There a many reason people get married.

Love.
Some want to secure them self better before buying land and build a house.
Some want to stay on 1 year married-extension and work.

Some like my self to better secure my wife for my insurance in my home country, As they dont pay out 100% to a girlfriend, But do pay out 100% to wife, If/when i leave this world.

Some like my self get a big tax benefit per year in my home country.

If married a girl that work for Government, Get free health insurance.

My Thai wife like us to get married to better secure me when the day come and she inherits her father, As she want me to have 50% of that, If something happens to her after that day come.
