How about the fact that there is only one?  Go to a Mekong delta town and you will see almost every home flying the flag

you got it......a few years ago there would have been a flag from at least 90% of the balconies. When I came here 2008 & lived in Trang Bang Tay Ninh every house would have a national flag flying & not to have one would have been ....lets say frowned upon. Some but not all would have the National flag with the hammer & cycle flag alternately on display.

So my post "sign of the times" that mostly long timers like me would remember or understand.

well it is pretty clean here & even on the 4 days National holidays the gardeners, cleaners & security team are working all through!! But trash is not the answer though.

People no longer honor the Hammer and Sickle as the symbols of the working classes, while at the other extreme they look up to a man who can buy the world's largest bottle of Scotch whiskey which only exists as a way to show off excess wealth. One doesn't have to be a Communist or Socialist to feel that something is wrong with what and who people honor these days.  This is probably just as true in many Western countries as it is in Vietnam.

Has tattooing always been as prevalent with VN ladies as it is now? Even 6-7 years ago it didn't seem as common. I do remember back then several conservative VN frowning on the idea of ladies being inked.

It almost seems to me like some sort of an aposematic response, something like "danger, keep back, poison..."

you wont see any ladies with tattoos working as nurses, working in banks etc. My advice for what its worth, stay well clear of birds with tattoos they have a screw loose & attention seekers or linked to Vietnamese Mafia.......just my thoughts like but I was with a "tattoo lady" for a year so have some experiences & it was not good!

I've been here over 10 years.  When I first got here I rarely saw tattooed women.  A few years later the ankle tattoos started cropping up.  Where I live now there are many university students and young people with disposable income, probably half of them have at least one tattoo, the men usualy have complete sleeves covering their arms and legs, the women have arm, ankle, shoulder, thigh, and or chest tattoos.

The name "Dyson" sort of rang a bell, but if someone asked me what it was known for, yes, seriously I would not have been able to tell them.

Zwilling knives? Nope, not a clue.

Hoover? Okay, that one I'd get . In fact it was the nickname I gave to a long ago GF of mine (I'm assuming you're not referring to the paranoid cross-dressing former head of the American FBI, or of their hydroelectric dam).

Apple? No problemo, of course. I own an iPad and had owned in the past a 4, a 4S and a 7 phone.

I'm just really not very good (at all!)  with brand recognition.

Neither. It was because between her ears at times there seemed to be a total vacuum. She'd do the most asinine things, especially so where it concerned driving a car.
