Return or forward flight needed upon entry?

Fly into De Nang on Dec 11 with evisa until Feb 23. Do I need proof of return or forwarding flight? I would prefer to book in February. Anyone had problems upon arrival without a return or forwarding flight?

Yes, people have had problems with certain airlines.

Rarely if ever has anyone reported a problem entering the country with a valid 90-day evisa without a continuing travel document.

It's vitally important that you check not only with the airline you will be boarding from your point of origin but also any airlines that carry you on connecting flights.
