Memories of the American War to last 100 years

Jaitch

Last week 8 Cambodian farmers were killed when their old truck ran over a pair of double-stacked anti-tank mines in northwest Cambodia.

This brought to mind recent comment's by the Chief of the VietNam Engineer Corps who said that more than a fifth, or 6.6 million hectares (16,308,888 acres) – equal to 21%, of VietNam's land mass remains contaminated with unexploded bombs, shells, and brick-a-brac.

This means that Foreigners who travel around the country are likely to come across dangerous areas, even near population centres, if they travel outside the usual HCMC<<>>Ha Noi run.

Six provinces with high density risks are - Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. Of course, Hue is a major tourist destination.

This isn't an idle threat as between 1975 and 2000 more than 40,000 people were killed and a further 60,000 injured in VietNam.

So if you see warning signs, be careful, the life or limb you save might be yours.

I think headway is being made in the "Agent Orange" fiasco, but haven't heard anything about the UE that was left behind.Ìý The War Machine has made Haliburton a ton of money, so I feel like it's high time they get over here and apply some of their "expertise" (if they actually have any) to these 2 problems.Ìý Dow Chemical and their cronies can come along as well.Ìý

I also believe that there will be people dying as a result of that war much longer than the next 100 years, unless drastic measures are taken.
