Coming home

lostintime

Hello everyone,

I recently just made up my mind to spend sometime back 'home', and to prepare I decided to find an expat community to join, learn & make some connections so my eventual experience would be a rich one :)

Long story short, I moved over to Australia with my immediate family from when I was 7. Having not much contact with my extended family, I drifted apart, and my heart in the end was far from VN.

Recently I went back to VN, got involved with a sweet girl there & although it kinda ended tragically due to long distance, she made me realise that while I am well & truly Aussie, I'm also Vietnamese (besides that, now I have a new found appreciation for all things VN).

So while I'm still young I wanted to live in VN a little (2 years) to see the life I could have had (the 'what if' life) & to live beside my extended family while I have opportunity.

Thus, here I am to research on my future 'home' coming. I guess I'll be asking a lot of questions & while this is still a good while off, maybe I can get well acquainted with lots of VN/expat people from Hanoi so when I do go it'll be super fun!

I'm planning to come back to VN for a holiday @ CNY 2014 for 3-4 weeks, then to stay in VN for about 2 years from the start of 2015.

hey I'm planning to have my wedding a week before the CNY in 2014. Than 4 weeks later head back to Canada. Work a few months until Spring than sell my house and buy my mom a house before heading back to Vietnam for a long while maybe even permanently.

I left Vietnam when I was 1 years old but been back and forth to Vietnam 3 times and like it even more each time.

If there's a subscribe button to this thread I'd like to know how it turns out for you. And how you're adjusting to life in Vietnam as someone that barely ever lived in Vietnam before than.
