This is an essential list but as you are a US citizen and already in Vietnam, you probably can have these documents certified more easily and at less expense by using the US consulate in HCMC rather than long distance.聽 You will need to make the trip to HCMC so of course get all the documents together first.聽 You can then attest to the validity of the documents there (the consulate has the wording.)聽 The next stop is DOLISA for work permit documents so I will need a little help on which Vietnamese office you go to for marriage documents.聽聽聽Sorry that I can't help you there.聽 The fee for notarization at the consulate used to be $50 US per document and I don't think that has changed.聽聽Maybe you could hire a local Vietnamese lawyer to handle the Viet end for what should be a modest fee but you of course will have to do the notarization yourself first.聽 Translation is likely available at the Vietnamese office that certifies the documents.

Hey everyone! Sorry I went MIA. I actually did a lot of research and know what I need to do, in the correct order give and take. And yes! Once the US embassy is open for appointments other than passport issues I will head to HCMC, to get a marriage affidavit, and a letter from the county I resided in, notarized. I will also get a health check up there. Then once I get all dossiers completed I鈥檒l head to his home town in Dak Nong to turn them into the justice department. Thanks for everyone鈥檚 help. It鈥檚 crazy complicated! But in time I will also be looking into a work permit here.

Talk to your employer about the work permit, they are the ones who will arrange it for you.
