Hahaha, Gordy.馃榾I think the problem is the immigration agents will tell you that it must be paid in USD. If you look up the laws of VN you will find it's illegal to advertise products or services in VN in USD. Not that this stops anyone.

I totally agree, my friend.

I'm thinking about the average tourist who follows the herd.

The kind who wants to go with the flow, not rocking the boat, taking the path of least resistance (and never mixes idioms or metaphors 馃槈)

I will always encourage them to be prepared with unblemished greenbacks.

True, it is less hassle. Its a shame that the VN govt departments cant follow the laws of the country.

I paid my last TRC in VND, and they didnt bat an eyelid.

Did they actually have an...

Nope.

Not going there...

Funny because my first VEC is stamped with "20 USD (HAI M漂峄淚)" and all the extensions are stamped "10 (M漂峄淚) USD" in red letters even though I am sure that my wife paid for all of them with VND.聽 The government's relationship with the USD seems almost schizophrenic.

I can verify that over my many years of multiple VOA payments at聽 the Saigon airport immigration window, I have paid in USD and other times VND and the lady taking the cash never questioned which currency I paid with.聽 One time I actually did not have enough USD and paid the balance due in VND, not a problem.聽 Matter of fact, the lady at the window was always nice and respectful to me, despite one time when I paid in VND and I thought I was overpaying and I got frustrated, but then realized I was wrong and kindly apologized to her and she smiled and say not a problem.

hi I am Jerry from Canada

i have lived in Vietnam on and off for 14 years but had to return to Canada and I hate it.

last year i received a 1 year visa and recently found out that the agents issuing those visas were not quite up and up. They just said it was good.聽 I received a VOA letter from them issued by the immigration department and got it..聽 I have now found out the the government has closed them down and everyone the received those visas got blacklisted with no explanation and time frame for the blacklist..

I really love Vietnam and want to go back but cannot....

be careful聽 聽 聽always get visa from embassy

i just wish they would tell me the reason and the length of my stay on the blacklist.

Vietnam Embassy in Canada will try to straighten out the problem

There is nothing anyone can say to convince me that this is not absolutely the best advice ever given in this thread.

This also not a good idea. If you were blacklist and you try to enter with new passports. But you knew you already blacklisted. I think it is the better you can try to deal with the embassy or Immigration authority.

It won't matter - it's you, not the passport number that is blacklisted.
All passports from all nations are tied to an international database.聽 This is why they run the front pages over a scanner.聽 聽I would be very surprised if the new passport number did not link to the old one.

wow, this is cruel. I have got my 1year visa in january 2018, after that in jan 2019, I used one 3 months visa. Then I went for a half year out of the country for a business and came back on a new 3month visa with a new passport as the old one had no free pages.

Is that issue connected only to some agencies then? Like, some agencies were doing it right and some were somehow cheating their ways through the process?

And is there some actually official agency or everything on internet is 3rd party and only personal visit to embassy is the best way?
