I don't even know #3.聽 I don't think there was an official one when I grew up here, and I had to look up to see what the new ones are.聽 And man, am I flabbergasted when I saw some of them.聽 Patron Saint in a mostly Buddhist country?聽 Who came up with that?聽 What were the miracles, who verified them, and who canonised the sainthood?聽

No, she didn't have the Patron Saint question, it's what I found when I looked up in some official site on the national symbols of Vietnam.聽 Diksha is more intelligent than those sites that sprout nonsense.

Oh, you mean THIS year?

2. Gold is the REAL currency, though the Vietnam 膼ong is used for most daily economic transactions.

3. 馃嚮馃嚦 and the likenesses of Ho Chi Minh and Nguy峄卬 Hu峄 (Emperor Quang Trung, leader of the T芒y S啤n聽 rebellion)

4. The Vietnamese language (ti岷縩g Vi峄噒) is the nationwide language, though in the major economic centers of the country, a significant number of the citizens are bilingual and speak either English or French (or both) as well.

1聽 - The Capitol City is Hanoi, though the administrative centre is generally considered to be Ho Chi Minh City by the Vietnamese.
2 - The Dong
3 - It depends on where you are and who you ask. You'll be told the Lotus Blossom, Turtles, Ho Chi Minh amongst others..
4 - Vietnamese of course

I know Vietnam fairly well. Not saying that am an expert:

1. What is the capital city or administrative capital of Vietnam? Hanoi is the capital. Saigon is the economic center.
2. What currency is used in Vietnam? VND - Vietnam Dong. However many landlords demand $ for rent payment.
3. List the national symbols of Vietnam.
The Lotus & the face of Uncle Ho
4. What are the official languages or the ones used the most on a day-to-day basis? Vi峄噒. However, in both Hanoi & Saigon there鈥檚 many Korean & chinese. If you stay in those neighborhoods, you can use those languages exclusively.
5. Share with us the national motto. Tram Phan Tram!!
6. Define Vietnam in one word. Polluted

Facial likenesses are not really symbols.聽 Considering the banners that are displayed on roadsides near holidays, I think you could say that the hammer and sickle is the national symbol at this point in history.

I would call facial likenesses 'icons', something western cultures in general don't seem to comprehend.

Some icons are more 'universal' within cultures than others.

On September 2nd, I'll likely still be in Hanoi for the national day celebrations.

I'll let you know which 'symbols' dominate the scene.
