How can I get my stuff out of Cambodia?

I have some personal items in storage at a hotel in Phnom Penh. It鈥檚 things like clothing, a computer and computer accessories, legal documents. Since I have not been able to go to Cambodia since March, and since I have lost all hope that I鈥檒l be able to travel there in the future without inane restrictions and expenses, I want to arrange for someone to send a package with this stuff to me in Ho Chi Minh.

These items are not new. They are my personal possessions. There are also bottles of vitamins and supplements that have not been opened, stored in my bags.

A box with this stuff would probably weigh about 5 kilograms. Would I have to pay customs and import fees, sales taxes to have this box delivered to me in Saigon? I鈥檓 not even sure that I can get the vitamins, because VN says you need an import license to receive vitamins in VN, even for personal use. But I am not ordering them from a company, I am just transporting them from my storage.

I was intending to just carry these items with me when I travelled back and forth between Cambo and聽 Vietnam. But now I can鈥檛 do that and I have doubts that I鈥檒l ever be able to do it.

Can anyone answer the question about customs fees on these personal goods? Does anyone know a company that will pick up the stuff in Phnom Penh and bring it to Saigon?

There used to be lots of bus companies that travelled between PP and HCM that would transport stuff like this for a reasonable fee. But now I guess all those companies are bankrupt.

I have carried vitamins in before, but I think my success was due to the fact I carried them in personal luggage.

Most likely yes you will have to pay import taxes, depending on the whole value it is possible to declare a lower value.. but there is no guarantee that you will be successful

Thanks for the reply. Well, I wonder how much the taxes would be? Do they open every box that comes in?

I asked DHL about this and they said I could do it if I'd entered VN within last 30 days and had a customs declaration form. Obviously, I don't have a form and have been here a long time.

They said this would be classified as used goods. They said DHL could not do it under the circumstances, maybe some other means of transport might work.

I wonder what the taxes and fees are on used goods.

Maybe I should go to the customs department and ask them. But can anyone there speak English?

Easiest thing would be to have a friend bring it to me with his luggage but they can't enter VN now.

I really need this stuff. Not having it is causing me many problems.
