E-Visa inquiry

yudirajput
Hi All,

Has anyone applied E-visa using the below link ?Ìý

I applied my E-visa using the above link and got my 30 day single entry visa. However, I contacted Vietnamese embassy in Ottawa (Canada) and asked if I needed an approval letter or not to enter in Vietnam and they confirmed that I don't need an approval letter but they mentioned also mentioned this - " However, as you have not applied for a standard visa issued by the Embassy, but an e-visa (a system not linked to Vietnam Embassy in Canada), we can not assist you if there is technical problem with it. "

Now, I am a bit confused if the E-visa I applied and received was a genuine one or not ? I believe the link I used to apply for the E-visa (hopefully) is a genuine one but I would like to ask here on this forum if they can advise me on this. I contacted E-visa support regarding this via email but it has been more than a week and I have not heard back from them yet.

Do I need to re-apply for the E-visa using Vietnamese embassy in Ottawa's website ? -
Or I am safe and good to go with the E-visa I applied using from the 1st link above ?

I will really appreciate any help/advises from you.

Thanks,
Yudi

Hi All,

You have applied at the correct VN government evisa site.Ìý
What the embassy is telling you is the can not help you if you have a problem with this visa. Separate parts of the Vietnamese government therefore can’t help.Ìý
Embassies do not issue evisa.Ìý

The above is why I never utilized an evisa to go to Vietnam including the several trips that I made before getting married.ÌýÌý Nothing beats getting on that plane with an actual visa firmly attached to your passport.Ìý An evisa is just a letter that says "We will be getting you a visa later."ÌýÌý With just an ounce of prior planning anyone should be able to obtain a regular visa from any Embassy or consulate.ÌýÌý There are countries where Vietnam does not maintain an Embassy but unless you are in one of those (India is not among them) I see no purpose in an evisa.Ìý I acknowledge that getting turned away with an evisa may be truly one in a million but getting turned away with a visa in hand is zero in a million, unless war breaks out between your country and Vietnam, in which case all bets are off anyway.

At this point in time, consulates and embassies of Vietnam are not issuing any tourist visas at all.

It almost sounds as if you are criticizing the choice of the op in getting an E-Visa.

They're simply is no other option at this time.

The consulates and embassies and the Visa On Arrival agents have something in common.

None of them are issuing tourist visas at this time, and an e-Visa (or citizenship in a Visa exempt country) are the only tourist-grade visa options for anyone who does not qualify for a VEC.

Some of the embassies and consulates are indeed accepting applications, but they are holding them until the government in Hanoi decides when to open up on that level (rumor says it will be after Reunification Day).

ÌýI used on line visa on arrival letter from online agent every 3 months forÌý the best part of 11 years & never ever had a problem other than as more & more tourists came in the latter years the waiting time at the visa on arrival arrival desk could be in excess of 1 hour. As far as I know the 1 month e visa is not same as visa on arrival & is a recent thing that only been available for the last couple of years........right?

Before I returned - started in February 2017.

What about you?Ìý

Are you still getting extensions, or are you going to have to do a border run?

If you do, and VOA visas aren't available yet, maybe you could re-enter on e-Visa?

I've had a few friends re-enter recently from Cambodia using e-Visa.

Now Now, OB thats a loaded question & not one I am going to reply to on an open forum taking into account our previous little tiffs about the legality of staying here on tourist & dodgy Biz visa's. Suffice to say I have been here since 2020 or there abouts without visa runs or extensions!

ÌýEvisa issued by the VN government is a visa not a letter like VOA.Ìý
It has a visa number on the paper unlike a tourist VOA. Of course the actual entry is always up to the immigration officer.Ìý
