I currently run a manufacturing facility in New York, I am not of Retirement age. trying figure out job situations...
I just want to talk to someone who has done something similar and find out how they did it and made out.

Hi Mike,
The problem with working for a Vietnamese company, even if you could get a job, is that Vietnamese salaries are very low. The cost of living in Vietnam seems very low when you arrive from a western country, but life is hard for most Vietnamese.
Sorry to be so negative, but a lot of Vietnamese would happily move to the USA.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yea, I was just looking to keep busy during the day, I am trying to work on a remote job, have to brush up on my programming.
Thanks for your input.
There are jobs for expats here that are not teaching. It is harder to land one of those jobs, bit of you do manage it then the salary can be comparable. It might just take a lot longer to聽 get that job
When you say you "run a manufacturing facility" in New York, can you be a little more explicit?聽 What do you do, how big is it, what type of manufacturing?聽 You can PM me if you want to keep it private.

I ask this because I'm in manufacturing myself and moved here a year ago but have settled well.

Da Nang is a good place for a new start.
I've done two new starts. Both went well !
Pity all those people in their hamster wheels.聽

Do you own property?
Your rental income from that will support a lifestyle in Vietnam.

Do you have a LinkedIn account ?

I met a few Americans in Danang, one from New York, successful business man, woke up one day stressed out, said that's enough, left the big city, lived in hau hin, moved to Danang. Basically lives off his rentals in New York. Seems quite happy, had his shit together, healthy lifestyle , gym everyday, not sitting in the bars. Mid 40 s. He seemed quite happy with the move.

My husband and I did the same thing the first time when we were 47 and 50.聽 Sold the big stuff, gave the rest to friends, neighbours, and Goodwill, then left California, moved to Italy.聽 Seventeen years later, we repeated the process and moved to Vietnam.

BTW, what is hau hin?

Some are large ducks, some are medium ducks and some are small ducks.聽 Some of the heated threads turn into a duck measuring contest on this forum sometimes.
