Daily contact lenses in HCMC

Quick question.

Isn't there a street here full of opticians and the like??? I know I saw the name on here before but can't seem to find it again.

Also has anyone here any experience of buying daily disposable contacts in HCMC?

Any ideas on prices? Even a ballpark would be great.

Very close to your ice rink, on the other side of the Main Post office at the intersection of Hai Ba Trung and Nguyen Du there is a very large opticians store, opposite the Asiana Hotel.

They are a subsidiary if one of the largest lens / frame wholesalers in VietNam. I have dealt with them and, apart from the fact they don't go glass lenses, they are definitely the most caring opticians I have come across in VN.

They also carry the latest styles of sun glasses as are worn in Hollywood!

You can get your eyes tested there by a certified ophthalmologist for VND100,000.

Hey so, went to that place on Nguyen Du/Hai Ba Trung and was very good. Called Eyewear Plaza, nice big place too, huge selection, great English speakers too which is always good when dealing with things like eyes/medical anything.

Good thorough eye exam for 100k and got contacts for a decentish price I guess. No Toreic lenses like others have mentioned on here before but I was told it shouldn't be long before they have them as there is a quickly growing demand.

Highly recommend the place.

As wholesalers with a US office they get more selection than most.

They have three more outlets on Dong Khoi and they are sister company to the Eye-wear Hut and a whole bunch of others.

A word of CAUTION. They only grind PLASTIC LENSES. And if your prescription is graduated BI or TRI-FOCAL the chances are THEY WILL NOT SUIT.

I recommended them because when I complained about my Tri-Focal they offered to check the fitting and. later, gave me 100% of my money back with any argument. Could you ask for a better guarantee in VN?

Sorry I should mention I was going in for contacts, not glasses. But yeah, great service. Highly recommend.

Out of curiosity, what's your issue with grinding plastic lenses??

If you had checked聽 on the wall where you had your eyes tested there are two diagrams illustrating the areas for near focal points and the area between them for distant focal points.

The distant focal area is extremely narrow which means the wearers head has to be rotated so that this area comes between the eye ball and the object.

Glass line-less or graduated lenses don't have a narrow area, you an see a much wider expanse without moving your head. I flew to HongKong to get my new glass lenses and the distant vision is much wider.

In actuality there are three lens focal points: One for reading books/newspapers, the next for computer screens and the rest for distant viewing.

Why the glass prescription can't be replicated in plastic I don't yet know but next time I visit Toronto I will get my optician, a friend, to explain why.

I have titanium frames and they are now in their 22nd year of service - the titanium is amazingly resilient and strong, still. My friend always says he should have never sold them to me! The manufacturer stopped making them as their sales fell somewhat.
