Passport held at immigration office for VEC 3-month stamp

Big-Tex

Hi all,

I recently went down to the visa stamping office for my 3-month check in. I have had a VEC for 2yrs now and something odd happened.

This time when I went back to pick up my passport, the visa office said I have to go to immigration office to pick up.

Anyone ever have this happen to them?

Consult your local consular agency for info & help. If doesn't work, pm me: have a good friend in Immigration office HCM, in worstcase may we consult him.together to get the right info. Regards.

Its not a problem....I have pretty high member of the party in the immigration department as a contact through a friend. I just dont want to contact him unless is absolutely necessary. No sense in using favors if is something I can take care of myself.

But just wonder why they pull me out of line.

tea money?

Big-Tex

I heard through a friend who does lots of visas that for some reason they have been holding back a certain amount of VEC's. I know by experience they did it to me and no tea money was asked for.

They held the VEC at the immigration office? Why?

Big-Tex

Simple answer.......this is Viet Nam,they do strange things for no reason.

Big-Tex

One of the reasons may be in refererence to when you last left Viet Nam, they are anal about people going out and coming back in. It also helps to bump up the tourist statistics which they love to say is increasing each year.

Big-Tex

Nope....the visa office reported it to immigration office.....

They didn't believe my marriage certificate

Big-Tex

Well that should be easily sorted, show them the original certificate.

They held mine for nearly  2 months without giving any reason,we kept asking them what was wrong and they just kept saying nothing is wrong,go figure.

Big-Tex

My worry is that we have to register baby soon with US and I don't have my passport back to do that....

Ya the immigration office had our marriage certificate.... they say is fine, just one more week.....we'll see

Let's not forget,we are dealing with a system and people that have a very unusual logic.

Government employees are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.
