[Vietnam] Documents needed for Work permit

Kimatori

Hello there, I am thinking of working in Vietnam for at least a year.

I was thinking of teaching English to kids or teens.

The thing is, I do not have a teaching degree, only a bachelor's degree in Electronics.
I am greatly considering entering a TESOL course.

I was wondering if the Vietnamese governement would grant me a work permit with a non related to teaching bachelor's degree.

I would like to know if anyone of you would have been in this situation.

Thanks to everyone who will answer.

Any degree will get you a work permit. Doing the Tesol/Tefl course will help you gain employment.

Actually the TESOL/TEFL course is required if you have a non-teaching bachelor's degree.  Technically if you have a BEd (or British or British colonial equivalent) degree you do not need the TEFL but I would still recommend it.  In Vietnam, you never know when the one approving your permit does not know the rules.  It could be that he is one who bought his job.

Just to be clear, a job and a work contract are required FIRST for the EMPLOYER to get a work permit for the employee, right?

In other words, it sounds like the OP wants to come into the country with a work permit and then find employment.

That's not the way it goes, right?
