Moving to Belize

Hi,
Have just joined and my husband and I are seriously looking to retire in about 3 years or so to Belize. We are looking at everything now and planning at some point to travel to Belize and stay a month or so get check everything out. We want to settle in the Consejo area of Corazol. Any info or websites would be helpful. Thanks

Just a question if you have never been to Belize is there a specific reason to choose any area so far ahead. Belize is Tiny but all of the districts are different. I would suggest you visit each district before you decide on your retirement home.

When we visit we plan on staying for several weeks to travel to the different areas. We have a friend who did 2 tours with the British military and was there for quite awhile. He was telling us about that area.
That was our first intro to Belize also, in the British Military in the early 90's聽 (wow I am getting old didn't notice it happening )聽
After many vacations over nearly 30 years since, we decided it wa where we wanted to retire to. We bought land in central Belize in 2014 now have 2 houses built and spend as much time as Possible in Belize. I asked because we "Knew "where we wanted to go to, but found what for us turned out to be the perfect location, somewhere entirely different. An area way down the list. if it was even on the list聽 聽 聽Enjoy exploring Belize it is a beautiful country. but don't burn your boats and risk all your retirement savings untill you have seen Belize at its best and worst聽 in both wet and dry seasons and decide if it is still your dream forever home.聽 works out for some but not for everyone. Some that invested life savings then聽 found it was a mistake for them, and wanted to leave, for many reasons find it difficult selling property quickly聽 to get back those savings to retire elsewhere.
I am here for the rest of my life and intend to grow old disgracefully in Belize. :-)
