@jkp39 it's 150,000 now and we are in the process of filing. There can only be one name on the deed if married and then your family can be claimed through you. If you purchase a home that's 150,000 and put you and spouse then the total cost is split and cannot apply.

cmc0321聽 Thank you for the聽 reply .聽 聽 Thinking聽 that if one聽 buys a CR聽 property /and聽 would聽 pay cash,聽 ( and聽 at $150.+ one聽 doesn't聽 get聽 聽much today - comparable) this would be the way to go聽 !聽 If聽 one gets a green card, and can bring in 2 motorized vehicles ( CR import TAX ??聽 ) + house hold items. This direction聽 would certainly聽 be worth it !聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Your聽 opinion now that you've started.聽 聽 聽Do you know of anyone that has completed this ventrue ?聽 聽 聽Appreciate the聽 continued input on聽 your venture !

We went the Inversionista route when the investment was $200,000.聽 The kicker is that it is not the amount paid for the property, but rather it goes by the Municipalities assed tax value.聽 For example we built our house and it cost just over $300,000 but when the Municipality gave us our tax assessment it was valued at $204,000, we barely made the $200,000 cut off.

@jkp39 Yes there is a tax for vehicles and household goods right now. They passed a law that allows 1 load of household goods and 2 cars tax free but they haven't figured out the how so it hasn't been implemented.

It is worth it, but be prepared for the cost associated with the move and taxes. then legal fees for temporary residency if you go through a lawyer.

Do appreciate the input聽 back.聽 聽Sounds聽 like聽 the聽 regulations still聽 聽need to be on the聽 books聽 for a while !聽 聽 Understand the typical "slow"聽 time frame,聽 but聽 what was your actual聽 time involved with this direction ?聽 聽
