Type 2 diabetic

beckinlbc

I am being prescribed Mounjaro because of my diabetes getting worse. I am also thinking about leaving the US with the political climate.  Is this medicine available in Costa Rica and if yes, how much does it cost.

The national healthcare system (CCSS) has a website; you can see their list of medications (web address below). As for private pharmacies (there are thousands of them)... you won't know until you walk in and ask; or consult a physician... they may know the availability of your specific need.

hopefully somebody has better info that doesn't require too much research...

I sent you a PM.

I have that same question.  I asked at PriceSmart Pharmacy, but they didn't have it.

My brief search for information on Mounjaro reveals that it appears to function by eliminating excess glucose from the blood via the kidneys. If that's correct (I'm not a doctor and never played one.), then your prescribing physician may be open to prescribing XigduoXR in its place. That's an oral combination of metformin and farxiga that's available in at least a couple of strengths.

I've been on XigduoXR 5mg/1,000mg for over two years and have had spectacular results on my periodic Hba1c tests. The XigduoXR is readily available in Costa Rican farmacias.
