I just have a question so I can resolve an issue with a friend of mine.聽 He said when he flew to Varadero they had valium and viagra and a bunch of other drugs for sale at the pharmacy at the airport...聽 I told him he must be mistaken as valium and viagra are controlled drugs.. at least they are in any other country..聽 Does anyone know if this is true or false?

I can say with 100 % certainty they sell those two items right at the airport in Varadero... Viagra is 110 mg聽 but both were displayed ... drugs are genuine when bought at state stores but if a resort worker etc tries to sell you the same cheaper they are fake like the cigars on beach

Thanks for answering that for me Ricardo ... Now I have to concede to my friend that he was right all along and I was wrong..聽 He will be happy to hear that.. me say I was wrong.聽 lol..聽 I am surprised though especially聽 valium over the counter.. The USA has really bullied other 3rd world countries into restricting those types of drugs, in a way it is refreshing that Cuba can't be bullied by the US.聽 On the other hand I remember reading a blog by Yauni Sanchez Sp? the young cuban feminist, and she wrote an article about housewives using valium like drugs, to dull the repetitiveness of life..聽 I thought it can be just as repetitive here in Canada.. maybe more so.聽 I think in Canada it is hidden more.. but folks here can be just as controlled, but by debt.聽 I had a conversation once with some Cubans about debt, and they could not fathom it.. ha ha a harsh reality for most here.

Anyway thank you R58 for answering that question for me.. What made you want to be an expat?聽
