Hello everyone.聽 I visited the DR this past June and became interested in taking steps to acquire property in the Santo Domingo area.

i鈥檓 former military and currently work as a Project Manager at a Hospital for Veterans.聽 As a veteran I was surprised that they developed a service for veterans in the Santo Domingo area called Veterans First.

My goal is to buy a property out there that would be a permanent residence but in the short term a vacation home.

Looking forward to any information that can be shared and advice as I move towards my goal.

聽 Welcome to the forums honey.聽聽 First do not buy for at least a year.聽 Make sure you聽 really know the area and all it has to offer as well as all the issues!

Santo Domingo is not a place most expats settle in.聽 There are Veterans聽 clinics all over the country where you will find expats!聽 If that is a main reason for choosing Santo Domingo you may want to look at other areas as well!

I just noticed a VCare opened up here in Las Terrenas. That's the extent of my knowledge! It's on the road to Playa Bonita and looks like a former Villa that was turned into a clinic. Tons of flags and armed forces seals on the wall around it!
