All work (online also) DR is illegal without legal status in DR

There is a new set of laws regarding working in the DR.聽 I asked the question about people who enter on a tourist card and work online (or off line or between the line or under the line 馃榾 in the DR).聽 That is because all work done in the DR is subject to DR taxes no matter who pays you for work you do for any country.聽 Yes including online.

Any work at all is now taxable and all work is illegal when entering on a tourist card, . Yes, even online:聽 Here is Dr, Fabio J. Guzman's response from Guzman Ariza Law firm,聽 聽

Dr, Fabio J. Guzman said:

Under current law, a tourist-card holder who overstays may be deported. Working in the Dominican Republic while on a tourist card is also a legal ground for deportation, since a tourist card does not authorize the holder to engage in remunerated activity. In practice, however, as we all know, the usual consequence for an overstay is the payment of a penalty upon exiting the country. Therefore, the overstay alone can constitute a legal ground for deportation; there is no need to base the deportation solely on the fact that the person was working online.

So both working online while entering on a tourist card or overstaying on a tourist card are grounds for deportation.聽 Does it ever happen?聽 Maybe not.聽 聽

That has聽 been the case for many years.聽 聽The issue is there is NO enforcement.

Should there be other visas?聽 I certainly think so. That would allow the govt to enforce easier and collect taxes on income earned while living here and working
