I will be moving to the DR in a couple of weeks! I have turned the internet upside trying to find a dealer that sells ATV 4 wheelers in the DR without any results! Could you tell me if there is any or do I have to buy one here and ship it! I heard that this method can be very costly! Hope someone can answer this for me!

Also I would like to add that my Dominican wife and I will be moving there to retire! She has duel citienship. I understand that we will have a one time duty free shipment of our household goods. You think I can buy one and ship in the container with my household item, duty free?

Good question! yes she can ship her goods in tax free. I suggest you email聽 wilsonrood@gmail.com聽 he is聽 a lawyer and can tell you if you can include the vehicle.

There are lots and lots of them to rent here. Don't worry at all, just come down and you will find them. They may not be on internet but i have seen them everywhere, from beaches to hills.

Ahhh yes just one little word makes a big difference.

I asked my one friend who has one and she bought hers second hand but know they can be purchased new here.聽 We are still trying to find out where.

Denlevi. Hi. It should enter duty free along with the rest of your household items according to the law, but the vehicle cannot be new and should have been registered in your name for over a year. I'll have to review the law to verify this. However, the law refers to a car- not the 4 wheeler- since it's new you'll have to pay duty. Good luck. Wilson. 829-902-7333

I did find a web page with a few listings of dealers. My wife's brother who lives in SD called one of them. The one I'm interested in is like $10,000 (WOW) looks like shipping one will be about the same!

There are two big dealers on the main street of Las Terrenas, calle Duarte, I聽 know because I bought ours some years ago.

There they are pricey and you should get one for a better price.
There is a number of ad pages where you can search for ATV, motor贸n, 4WD vehicle, etc.
Unless the ATV is from a resident who is leaving after owning it for a short while, I'd rather buy new.
We bought a small one new (Las Terrenas) for the kids but sold it recently.
They are fun to ride in the 'campo', but dangerous, too.

YES.聽 Every day the noisy monsters roam the streets & deep into the night. They need to be registered, insured etc. Call Hipolito at the # given for details.聽 4 wheelers & ATV's聽 can be rented in Sosua as well. Have fun, I like beer.

I guess I made them sound terrible, THE ARE NOT!聽 The noisy couple of them are rentals by a company that thinks they are cool.聽 Lucky for us they aare not rented often & seldom during the off season.聽 The privately owned are quiet, even quieter than some of the moto conchos.聽 I made the mistake of playing with phrases, rather than just passing the info on.聽 I apologize for the error of my ways.聽 Should have waited until after the rum.
