Are there many homeless people in Dominican Republic?
The reason I am asking, I met a woman on DominicanCupid and we have been chatting on WhatsApp. Now she is telling me she is homeless with no money, shelter and food.
is this a common occurrence or another scam?

It's free but you need a cell phone which costs money and usually decent credit to get a cell Phn.聽 Just be careful...my brother met a girl online years ago and she sent him photos of herself and all the photos looked like they were out of a catalog and professional photos (girl posing on rock's near the ocean with beautiful backgrounds etc etc ) lol! She was supposedly living in Russia.聽 Then she started telling him how destitude she was, and needed $100 to pay a bill and then more money to get a flight to come see him....me and my other brother finally talked some sense into him to stop talking with her. I hope this girl is different in your case. 鈽�

It's definitely a scam.聽 We have very few homeless here.聽 It is a culture of family and community.聽 Everyone takes care of each other.聽

For her to be asking for money like this is a huge red flag.

I have been reading many stories聽 on here before I joined. Just playing it smart by asking the expats on here first. She has sent me photos everyday of her wearing the same outfit . But, I know you can always take many photos in a 5 minute span. When I do request a photo of her in the moment it takes about 5 minutes for me to receive one. Which only tells me she went outside to have the photo taken

You are the best judge since it is your situation and only you can decide if this is someone you may want to get to know more about. I like to always be aware but also not take on an attitude that everyone is out to rip me off or lie to me, there are actual people that are still good out there, but just don't have an ideal situation going on in their life, :-)

Usually I am a very good judge of character when I meet someone face to face. I have never met this person and we have only communicated via WhatsApp. So, I am unable to really be able to see body language and eye contact.聽 My biggest weakness is having a big heart for someone who could use a little help. In short...SCAM!!!!!!!

This is such a common thing here especially with older men and younger woman.聽 Hold on to your wallet and save yourself a big headache.

It is possible that she doesn't owe a house or maybe have a little income but she's living somewhere anyway.
聽 A homeless persone may have a celphone nd have whatsapp. Anyway you need to try yr best to know someone u met online, but I know there are many poor people in Dominican Republic too.

I was reading a thread that a woman with a tattoo is a night worker. If a woman has 4 stars on her upper left body near her shoulder, does that mean she works at night?

Yes, it is just one of the many such scams here. I myself just had yet another such message today.聽 The reason they do it is because it frequently works with naive, soft hearted gullible gringos.聽 I usually answer that I will pray for them.

Tattoos do not necessarily mean they are a night worker.聽 Tattoos are not readily accepted here and are seen as low class.

The only way for me to find out how the culture is in DR is by living there, I guess. Then can find a respectable woman with or without tattoo's
