Flying with a cedula

cindyscruise

We just got our cedula and temp residency in December.  I am hoping to fly to the states in March.  Do I show my cedula when leaving to avoid any fees.  When I come back to I use my US passport or go to the dominican line?  Thank you in advance.  This forum has always been so helpful for my probably stupid questions.

We pick up our cedullas in about 3 weeks, so I'm interested in these answers, too.

They want to see your residency card. I always give both residency card and cedula with passport. Most just hand back the cedula.

Yes you can use the citizen and residents line. If you fly via Punta Cana that will generally avoid a long queue.

You would be using the white paper form but that only has a month more to go with the paperless system taking over.

Using the benefits of your new residency always prompts questions so you are welcome to ask.

It is worth having your residency at hand otherwise you get herded to the tourist lines at immigration in and out. And it may be a good idea to declare at check in flying here that you are resident. Jet Blue always used to call up passengers to the gate desk if they didnt have an onward booking (in San Juan at very least) to check for residency or onward journey proof. British Airways did that too.

Thank you.  I don't have a Dominican passport just US one.

All you need is the residency card.  You fly on your American passport and use residency to avoid the fees.

I think , these days, the computer system has a full record of your status.

But you still present your residency card with your passport of choice

Assuming the systems are "actualized". In any reasonable time frame!

For those not aware this term "actualized" is thrown around here all the time.  It's supposed to mean - systems are synched or update - but can mean so many different things!  :D:D

I have asked that question at Migracion - entering the country

Can you see I am a citizen ?
They said - Yes..... well Si actually
hahaha

I say it IS actualized...... my file at least.....
