Moving to Cap Cana

Hello everyone
I am single female working remotely from NYC. I do not have kids and would like to move out of expensive high tax NYC. Looking around Cap Cana area for a two bedroom condo. I am willing to sell my place to purchase the condo. The maintenance for the condo in Cap Cana is $400. I know electricity is expensive. Are there other expenses I should be worried about? Has anyone Lived in this area or bought in this area?聽 any tips would be great.

I plan to live here.聽 I speak Spanish, my family is Dominican I was born in USA.

Take some time to look around and spend some time. Maintenance varies pending on area in developments. It depends on what you seek (on the beach, by the beach, etc).

Very much to see and different from NYC and much less in overall costs.

Great area in my opinion but it all depends on your needs and interests.

Cap Cana is beautiful but quite empty at times, especially if you work online. Consider living in Punta Cana Village which is close to CC but offers more diversity, including Blue Mall shops and restaurants. From there explore the whole area before you buy. There are a lot of properties on the market right now, so come down and you will love it!

Welcome to the forums!聽聽Make sure to check on the internet options and back up internet.聽 Working online this will be a major concern along with backup power!聽 The electricity is from a private company so while expensive it is pretty stable.

Welcome!

Visit the threads here on residency. If you plan to live here, you will need to start the residency process from the US. With your family being Dominican, you might be able to fast-track residency or even citizenship.

Also keep in mind that if you work for an American company, you could be on the hook for income taxes to the US as well as in DR.

Yes I should have said Punta Cana village. The area seems beautiful right up my ally most very nervous a bit purchasing.聽 I may rent.聽 I am looking st Mia Hermisa too. If any one can speak to this it would be great!

I have not been in it that area too much but slowly being built up with new construction as well. My suggestion is stay in both places and you will see a big difference. Does the price difference matter for what you want or can afford...

Yes it matter because here in this area you don't need a car. In Cap Cana you do but Cap Cana area is much more updates with supermarkets and Gym with AC. Gym is important as I work out everyday.聽聽Just want to 100% sure.

Hi!聽 We lived in Cap Cana back in 2012 and loved it!聽 You couldn't pick a better place to live!聽 The $400 fee is reasonable and you will have to pay electric but since Cap Cana is on a grid by itself (at least it was) it's not too bad!聽 You have the Supermarket in Punta Cana Village where you can get everything you need and if you have a car (which you will need in Cap Cana) you're on your way to living in Heaven!聽 Good Lucke!
