If you don’t want to learn Spanish, you would probably be most comfortable in Coronado, Pedasi, Boquete, Bocas del Toro where there are more English speakers. Figure out what you want (mountains, beach, city, country, etc) pack a suitcase, get on a plane, find a furnished rental, try it out. You can stay for 6 months. By then if you have decided this will work you should have applied for residency so you can stay permanently.

Thanks so much for the info, we will def learn spanish or try!   LOL out of respect. Are plan is to go there in September  for ten days ish drive from one end to the other, and get a feel. We will rent something somewhere when we go back for four months. Then over the course of a few years go back and forth till we figure it out. I appreciate the names of the towns you mentioned as I'm Panama stupid!

There are lots of resources on line to learn more about the country. How did you decide to check out Panama? Are there other places you are also considering?  this might be useful, some contacts in the country, also an excellent Spanish teacher -
