Opening a bank account in Austria ?

I'd like to spend a good part of the next few years with my home base in Vienna.
I'm Canadian, and would like an Austrian bank account .
In Canada we still buy money orders from the bank , No easy bank transfer like In Austria.

What other than my passport and possibly the source of funds would I need to provide the bank in order to open an account ?

You would need your Meldezettel and that's it.
