Belgian single permit and visa related info.

Saurabh Saraswat

Hello everyone,

I am from India and hold a German dependent residence permit. I have been staying in India for a few months now and planning to move back to Germany in a month. Recently, I received a job offer from Belgium and have been asked to submit documents for a single permit as the first step, followed by a visa application.

My first question is: would it be wiser to apply for the single permit from India or from Germany? Since applying from Germany would push back things till I move back to Germany. According to my employer, regardless of where I apply, I need a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from India. From other threads I have realised that I need to legalise the PCC and marriage certificate issued in India (please correct me if I'm mistaken). In total, where should I apply to expedite the process?

My second question is: can I apply for the single permit from India and then apply for the visa from Germany? Are these two processes linked to each other? In the single permit application, my employer has asked  to provide information about the consulate where I will be applying for the visa. Can I choose German based Belgian consulate while applying for single permit from India?

I would appreciate any first hand info. or expert advice on this.

Thanks.

You can initiate work permit and visa D in one country. Cannot be mixed.
