Question About Residency Card Change After Single Permit(From student)

Dogukan235

My company applied for a work permit for a highly skilled worker at 06/06/2024. The file sent to DVZ after getting a positive feedback from the Department Werk & Sociale Economie at 09/07/2024.

My current residency card is Type A (student) valid till 31/10/2024.

As stated in my contract I am supposed to start working at 08/10/2024. However, due to family reasons I have to be abroad between 16/09/2024 and 07/10/2024.

So I would like to ask:

    - If I recieve the Annex 46(single permit) when I am abroad, Can I still go to the stadskantoor on 07/10/2024 and apply for getting Annex 49?

    - If I have to go to stadskantoor before 07/10/2024, when I apply for getting Annex 49 would my current residency card taken and is it possible for me to travel outside Belgium in that state?

        - If my current card is taken can I apply for urgent procedure to get the new card in 2 business days?

        - If I cant apply for urgent procedure, can I request a travel document which allows me to travel outside Belgium?

1- No matter where you were  when you receive Annex 46 , depending on your municipality :

  • Either you should make an appointment (or municipality does) or you can visit municipality

2- Your residency card will be taken when your new card issued.(In case of taken you can travel with Annex 49 nowhere)

3- Yes you can. Its about 150€

4-There is no document for travelling outside of Belgium during your new card issuing.

Pro tip: As long as you have a valid resident card or visa + Annex 49 + Annex 46 (your employer can see this if its already issued) you can start working without problem.
