How to apply for L card, Schaerbeek?

Stranger_F

Hello!

I'm eligible for L card and scheduled appointment via internet with townhall (appointment type "document d'identite Belge, L carte").

However upon arrival they said that this appointment can't be used to submit documents and instead I should send documents via email.

I do have negative experience with sending documents via email, as it's very easy for them to ignore it. Also I want to receive my annex 16bis, because once it's issued they have 5 months to review/decline the request,

Question: how can I submit documents for card L and receive annex 16bis?

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the service.

Unfortunately, many of us face difficulties getting the services we are supposed to receive. However, this does not change the procedures or how they work.

Let me share my experience with the L card application to give you a clearer idea of the process.

I submitted my application online. After a certain period of time (depending on how busy the municipality is), my file was processed by the municipality and then sent to the immigration office. After that, I received Annex 16.

This moment marks the beginning of the 5 month processing period  but not the date when you first submitted the application to the municipality. (So do not think opposite)

After some time, I think about 2 or 3 months later, I received the approval for my L card.

Then I made an appointment to apply for the actual L card.In that appointment , necessary tax given, fingerprints taken.

Then i wait again a week to have a pin code in post box. After that another appointment made and collect my card later.

Voila!

As you already here in Belgium for 5 years i believe you know very well the key is patience :)

Good luck !

I guess it depends on the commune. I live in Ukkel and I went today to apply for the L card with all the supporting documents. I took a ticket, then when my turn arrived, the commune lady took my documents, and then gave me both the Annex 16 and annex 16BIS to sign. Everything has been done fast.
