Commune Registration & Work Authorization Question

Hey everyone I am new here and have a few questions that I am wondering if you can help answer. I am a non-EU citizen (US citizen) married to a French citizen and our marriage is registered in France.

We are planning to relocate to Woluwe-Saint-Pierre (1150) from the US. If I receive a job offer from a company in Brussels am I able to work with just the preliminary Annex 19ter once we complete our registration appointment or do I need to wait to for the actual Orange card later on in the process?

Would we also register the same time at the same appointment? Is a Livret de Famille and and acte de marriage sufficient for proof of marriage ?

Many people in similar situations to you can start working after submitting their application and receiving Annex 19, but I strongly recommend that you check directly with the city hall or immigration office, as the process may differ and employers often need to see specific documents.

@mlutsdblursyo thank you! Will do

From my experience in Belgium, best way is of course to ask the "Commune Saint Pierre", but try to get a clear answer, sometimes even the commune mixed up with things especially if you ended up with a new employee who does not really know the rules well. I always ask my question loudly and through the window I try to let as much employees as possible to pay attention to my question and that my questions is well heard. it happened to me that I got conflicting answers when asking more than one employee over there. I'm in Saint Lambert.聽

To avoid going back and forth, I always do this trick, it might be annoying to them but at least I get a clear answer. Rules in Belgium are very confusing and they have many many rules that even the commune are confused about them sometimes.

Plus, sometimes the commune has the power to help you and make some exception, not necessary following the rules especially if certain rules are vague....etc just be kind and friendly with them.

Good luck
