Shipping a dog within EU

I am buying a dog from Germany and he will be send by plane to Bulgaria.

He will have all the documents. Do you know what is the聽 procedure聽 to claim the dog when he " lands" in Bulgaria?

My experience of moving unaccompanied animals all over the world has been that airlines treat unaccompanied animals as cargo; the only real difference is that local government/veterinary regulations may require a health check on arrival.聽 My advice would be to speak to the carrier airline now and check what their process is to hand over your animal.

I did some research- I have to go to the cargo area. Some people say it is a breeze to pick up the pet ; after all the shipping is within the EU; apparently there are some forms to fill out. Well, I will find out....
