Whether you聮re a history buff or not, here聮s a chance to learn about the history of Bulgaria. Below are a few trivia questions to test whether you have the correct facts.

2. What is the name of the national anthem? When and by whom was it created?

Hardly data gathering, all the information can be got by Google. The idea from these posts is to keep the forums active and following.

Well maybe I really am that stupid so here goes nothing:

1. Rila Monastery - largest in Bulgaria, over 1000 years old and a
聽 聽 Unesco world heritage site.
聽 聽 Roman Theatre of Philippopolis - partly restored and nearly 2000
聽 聽 years old. Still used for concerts today.
聽 聽 Tsaravets Fortress - Medieval fortress located in the ancient capital
聽 聽 of Veliko Tarnovo. Location of the royal palaces in the 12th century.

2.聽 The current national anthem is the "Mila Rodino" which means
聽 聽 聽"Dear Motherland".
聽 聽 聽It was written by Tsvetan Radoslavov in 1885 as he left to fight in
聽 聽 聽the war. The text has been changed many times since then.

3.聽 Belisarius - A general,聽 circa 500 AD.
聽 聽 聽Constantine V - Emperor, 718 AD.
聽 聽 聽Baba Vanga - Blind mystic and clairvoyant, 1911 - 1996.

4.聽 National Liberation day is celebrated on the 3rd March.
聽 聽 聽It marks the signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty 1878, when
聽 聽 聽Bulgaria gained independance after 5 centuries of Ottoman rule.

5.聽 The signing of the San Stefano is also one of the most important
聽 聽 聽turning points in Bulgarian history.
聽 聽 聽Another turning point would be the 9th September 1944 when
聽 聽 聽Bulgaria was invaded and ruled by Russia for 45 years.
聽 聽 聽(Peoples Republic of Bulgaria existed from 1946 - 1990.)
