Firestick TV box

Alan Cyprus

Hi, I bought a Amazon free TV stick thinking it would connect to BBC channels but am receiving the error code 02062.

I have a smart LG television connected to a WiFi  which is using UK based VPN.

My phone is connected to the same VPN and receives BBC output. Any thought appreciated.

An iPlayer fault code 02062 typically indicates a network connectivity issue, meaning your device might not be properly connected to the internet, which is preventing it from accessing iPlayer content.

This is often resolved by restarting your device and router, checking your internet connection strength, or switching to a different network if possible.

What to try if you see iPlayer fault code 02062:

Restart your device: Turn off your TV, streaming device, or phone completely and then turn it back on again.

Restart your router: Power cycle your router by turning it off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on.

Check your internet connection: Verify that your internet is working properly and that you have a strong signal.

Check for network issues: If you're using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired connection to see if that resolves the issue.

Update the iPlayer app: Make sure you have the latest version of the iPlayer app installed.

Clear the app cache: Clear the cache and data for the iPlayer app on your device.

Contact your internet service provider: If the problem persists, contact your internet service provider to check for any issues on their end.

Please let us know if this helps!

In addition to what has been advised and what you've already tried, try to disable any VPN or proxy.

Check your Fire TV settings for any VPN apps and turn them off.

If you have a VPN installed on your home router, you may need to disable it there.

Restart your Fire TV and try again.

Good luck

Is your router a VPN router? You won't be able to watch just BBC on firestick without going through a VPN.

I have the same setup and regularly get this error. I normally just try a few other programs on iplayer and when I find one that works I go back to the original and normally it then works. I also have tried changing the uk vpn server say from London to Manchester and that sometimes helps

happens within the app particularly on programme change - force close iPlayer and clear cache - restart  app and generally works on firestick ( I find it easier and less hassle to cast iPhone with VPN to tv iPlayer app and it’s never had an issue

TBH I dont know why people miss UK TV, it is complete rubbish. If you want the News, just get Sky News on YouTube.

But if you really do want it, just connect the laptop to the TV using a VPN.

If you want films or shows or using a VPN

Thanks for the responses which are appreciated. However most of which I have tried.

I have connected to a slave VPN router. My phones TV,s etc also use this and iplayer works perfectly. They tell me they are located in UK cities.

I would not disable VPN because iplayer is enabled for UK based receivers only. Plus of course VPN gives me a private network.

I shall continue to seek a remedy but thanks again for input.

Just had a thought

  1. If tv is region set with a chip you have to change its geographic firmware (if bought outside U.K.)

tv settings need to match VPN for iPlayer ie date and time setting as iPlayer recognises clock on tv firmware

turn off auto date time on the tv

Alan Cyprus

That's a thought "telf"

I shall have a try today and see how it goes. Would make a change from Netflix.
