US passport – Leaving Cyprus during extension

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has had a similar experience in Cyprus.

I am a US passport holder and entered Cyprus on January 1. I received an official extension of my stay through immigration and have a scheduled appointment on May 26 to continue my process.

I have not yet submitted a full residence/work permit application, so I currently only have:

    •    a stamped appointment slip

    •    confirmation that my stay is extended in the system

I am planning to:

    •    leave Cyprus for about 1 week (UK + Romania)

    •    return to Cyprus before my May 26 appointment

My main question:

👉 Has anyone left Cyprus during an extension period (before submitting the full application), and then returned without issues?

Specifically:

    •    Were you able to re-enter normally as a US/visa-free traveler?

    •    Did immigration question your previous stay?

    •    Did you receive a full 90-day entry again or a shorter stay?

    •    Did anyone experience refusal or major issues in this situation?

I understand that once I leave, my extension may no longer apply, so I’m trying to understand real experiences at Larnaca airport rather than just general rules.

Any firsthand experiences would really help.

Thanks in advance 🙏
