Please clarify or add steps for getting a VLS-TS

Can someone explain or clarify the steps for me?聽 I was told the following:

聽聽 1聽聽You need a dossier that shows France address, income, and complete an application

聽聽聽聽聽 Did I miss something?

聽聽 2聽聽 Send the application to VFS Global and wait for an interview.

聽聽聽聽聽 I was told it takes about a month for VFS Global to contact you for an interview.

聽聽 3聽聽Go to the interview with the supporting dossier material - ( I was informed an FBI record search wasn't necessary.)

聽聽聽聽聽 ** I was informed that at this time you had to give your passport to them聽 <-- is this true?

聽聽聽聽聽 ** Also you need tentative arrangements, tickets, when you will be traveling to France.

聽聽聽4聽 After the interview聽 VFS Global will send your passport and dossier information to the France Embassy in Washington DC.

聽聽聽5 In about a month the embassy will return your passport with the VLS-TS in the mail.

I am sure I missed many things.聽 Please add any information you think is important that I missed.

Sorry to not reply sooner.聽 You have it mostly right.聽 You need to fill out the application on line at the France government site. You also need to show proof of medical insurance valid in France.聽 Then schedule an appointment on line with VFS Global (this can be frustrating).聽 Then you physically go to the appointment with your documents and passport which are sent to the French Embassy in Washington and everything is sent back-it only took about 2 weeks for us.聽 Then when you get to France you have to register and pay for the registration "stamps" and you will be given an appointment for a chest xray and a medical check.聽 You will get a temporary titre de sejour and finally you will get an appointment to receive your titre de sejour card which you pick up in person at the prefecture and which you will have to renew yearly.
