For foreigners, I suggest using classified ads. Agents can be reluctant to foreigners and the amount of paper they ask is debilitating. House sharing is developing more and more in France.

500 euros for a 25 m2 studio. But the price depends on the location. City center can be more expensive

What are the formalities or the required documents for renting an accommodation?

When you sign: deposit = 1 month rent + first month in advance.
Landlords often ask for recommendations and guarantors.

Which advice would you give?

Get a French speaking person to help you and stay calm ! Honestly it's very difficult if you can't speak French.
