Practicing dentistry in Germany for a Moroccan student

Hello,

I am a dental student in Portugal with Moroccan nationality and I am looking into the possibilities of practicing in Germany.

I would like to exchange with a practitioner or an HR representative to understand diploma recognition, administrative procedures, and opportunities for EU-trained dentists who are non-EU nationals like me.

Thank you in advance.

Before we proceed, do you speak German at a level of at least C1, both written and spoken?

Best to point out that such a level is required by law.

That is good to hear. You will be amazed by the number of people who think they can get by with just English. Well, make sure you do get up to C1 because you will have to take a recognised examination and show the results to any future employer.

beppi & Tom will be able to tell you what are next steps are, and good luck.

As far as I know (but I am not an expert, so please check this with the appropriate trade body, possibly "Kassen盲rztliche Vereinigung"), after achieving C1 German you need you foreign diplomas and certificates recognised. How and where to do that, the trade body will be able to tell you.

Only after that you can talk to potential employers.

Good luck!

If I remember correctly, if the exams are taken in the EU, then they are recognised across the bloc, but they would have to check on that.

Thank you for all your answers but what is Germany's policy regarding foreign dentists? Is Germany open to welcoming them to its territory or are restrictions beginning to be imposed ?

@SimCityAT

Yes thanks to the Bologna agreements my portuguese diploma is normally recognized throughout the EU.

Germany is very open to foreign doctors or dentists - as long as they have the recognized required education and German language proficiency.聽
