Bringing overseas vehicles to Germany

GuestPoster263

In the UK you are permitted to drive a non-UK registered vehicle for six months as a "temporary import" before it requires registration.

How long can you drive a UK vehicle in Germany before it requires registration (& presumably becomes eligible for German road tax)

Thanks

According to this site,  a person from another EU country can drive up to a year in Germany with thier foreign registered vehicle - but upon actually registering to live in Germany they need to re-register it right away. So it makes a big difference if one is just visiting or taking up residency. And who can know how Brexit will affect such a situation?

This site shows requirements to actually register such a vehicle in Germany. The appropriate page is in German. The site has an English version but it is far from complete and doesn't seem to have a translation of this particular page.
