Is it easy to live in Cologne if not a native German language speaker?

I will go to Cologne for a short travel next month . Is it easy to survive if I can't speak German?聽

If it is for only a short visit then yes you can survive without German. The KVB public transit ticket machines and city tourist offices operate in multiple languages.

Of course if you wish to stay longer and integrate, then yes you should learn German like any other country.

It is best to know certain words like- Please, and Thank you, Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Day, Good Night, Do you speak English? Just out of curtsy. I have always found, if they see you making the effort people are more relaxed and will switch to English if they see struggling.

I recommend you download Google Translate onto your mobile phone, you can now practice learning wordfs and phrases on it for free.

Thanks for your advice. I can speak some English, though not proficient.聽 It's difficult to learn a new language, I have started to learn a few German phrases, hopefully it can be used for next month
