Due to thevirus situation, there are no apartment viewings. So I don't know how the rental market works at the moment. Probably not at all.
But because of the bad economic situation, the shortage of rental flats in German cities might me a bit alleviated in the near future.
But you will still normally need three months before you can move in, so you are already late for June!

Is this certain? I know they can’t have viewings with multiple people but an individual appointment might be possible. Legally the exact restrictions vary from region to region so I cannot say how it is in Frankfurt (which for the OP’s information, contrary to what is written on his profile, Frankfurt is NOT in Bavaria). And one could mention the regulations at the moment but it could change the next day… The situation is certainly complicated at the moment.

Tom is right: There is no legal ban on house viewings (as long as only two people are meeting), except of course in those states and towns with stricter regulations that Germany-wide.
But I think that most landlords (and tenants) just wait until the situation improves.

I would say it this way; the covid-19 situation is making an already difficult situation more complex. But if people need to move then they might not have the luxury to just wait around if they can go forward with their plans. And which landlord would leave an apartment empty, losing them money, to wait if not necessary?
